Itty bitty retirement, AKA IBR (rhymes with “fiber”) AKA “iterative retirement,” is two things:

1. An offshoot of the financial independence retire early (FIRE) movement that specifically aims to help people retire “early, ugly and often”
2. This blog and lifestyle business dreamed up by Ryan Keawekane and William Rowden based on more than a decade of first-hand experiences living, learning, working and traveling all over the world.

3. Help people take mini retirements to validate their assumptions about their “forever retirement.” We advocate for retiring “early, uglly and often”: as soon as possible, as cheaply as possible and as often as possible.

Iterative retirement is what itty bitty retirement is; it’s also slightly harder to say. Iterative retirement and itty bitty retirement (IBR) are interchangeable.
